Born in Osaka in 1969, he studied architecture and music before deciding to pursue a career in manga. Project Itoh began writing in the late '90s, when he took over the serialization of "Genius Party" in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday. It eventually became the first manga serialized by a major Japanese publisher to be translated into English when Viz Media began distributing it in 2002. He has created several original manga story lines, including "Cybernetic Hiroyuki" and "The Empire of Corpses."
